Possibly the filter bubble, but when I search on Google for API (to see what comes up) the top n APIs (as opposed to other things) are, in order:

TheyWorkForYou
Facebook
Flickr
Twitter
Victoria and Albert Museum (yes, it has an API)

What ever happened to real software? (And you kids can get off my lawn)
