They came for the potholes, but I was not a pothole, so I did nothing
Following on from the patching of potholes prior to the Olympic torch relay, two teams out at once at one point, a long flint wall on the way into the village where I work is now being repaired one week in advance of the torch coming through. If I recall correctly, and I may well not, the wall has been patched up with wood and metal holding the wood in place for the last 15 years - yes, I have worked there that long, 15 years on the 1st July, in fact. That is to say I don't remember the wall ever not being like that. I wonder if the council gave the owner a bung. As I drove past the people doing the work on Monday around lunchtime were in classic 'there is a hole in the wall, men are looking into it' pose.
