The Devil's Backbone

An exciting 13 mile run today, which has left me feeling rather wiped out. As M & E are on hols in France we set off on our own and explored the footpath you get to if you come through Kennington onto Abingdon Road, then cross over the road. The first 20 or so meters are very overgrown but then you get onto a field, and you can follow a path to South Hinksey. Then we ran along the raised footpath, the Devil's Backbone and crossed the bridges that cross the railway and Hinksey Lake. OpenStreetMap Map. I don't think I've ever been to South Hinksey, North Hinksey certainly but not South. If you didn't know it was in the ring road you would never guess it, I think it looks somehow unlike Oxfordshire, maybe Cornish? Somehow I didn't know the lake, or the food-bridge were there at all. Or, I suppose, that there was a lake at the end of Lake Street. I see one of the pictures on Flickr of the lake is by pomma_penses :-)
