Beggars In Spain

Earlier I wrote a long and ill tempered entry about
a) these 'how many of these n things have I done / read' lists and
b) the awfulness of Beggars In Spain, one of the books on the list of 100 SF novels floating around

I thought better of it and deleted it.

HOWEVER, lest any of you, or your friends be tempted to think 'the fact that a book is on this list is a sign that I should read it', Beggars In Spain blows chunks. It is an awful Libertarian wish fulfilment novel. The characterisation is lousy, the politics simplistic and the outlook is so insanely blinkered to a U.S. perspective that major plot points just don't make sense.

Avoid.
