Chibnall and I

Talking of crap TV, I am looking forward to the treat that is going to be Law and Order: London.

Reasons suggesting the unparalleled delight we have in store (largely taken from Wikipedia)

1. ITV (all together now 'in the kingdom of the blind the one eyed man is king, in the kingdom of the bland, it's 9 on ITV').
2. Contractually obliged to reuse American plots
3. "The final 13 episodes are the favorites of Chibnall and Stokes, although one episode had to be replaced due to incompatibility with British law"
4. Yes, Chris Chibnall. That's right, ' lead writer and co-producer of the first two series of Torchwood'
5. And I think this is the best of all, "Freema Agyeman as Alesha Phillips – Steel's "hard-working and strong-willed" assistant and a "brilliant young barrister""
This, I think, is particularly inspired, since Elisabeth Röhm plays one of the lawyers in 'Law and Order' and, as I have often said, is one of the few people on television who approach Agyeman in acting ability.
There are few things on TV to compare with Röhm's (non) reaction shots. She is questioning a suspect or witness. The suspect or witness says something. Is the lawyer surprised, pleased, shocked, disappointed, confused? The beauty of Röhm's acting is that the audience get to grapple with this ambiguity themselves. Genius.
