A lost masterpiece

We saw a video of Aelita, Queen Of Mars on Saturday http://us.imdb.com/Title?0014646

It is a 1924 Soviet silent film, with more than a dose of Bolshevik propaganda. It is unintentionally funny, and to my mind a much more watchable than many of the 'so bad it's good' films in the accepted canon of such films - Robot Monster springs readily to mind. It is actually quite subtle in some ways, containing intentional as well as unintentional humour along with multiple points of view.

Of course, it may be known about and shown at conventions these days, but it was the first time I had heard of it.

We saw a video brought from the states, but it is also available on Region 0 DVD.
