Interesting placement of the word 'allegedly'

"Mr Mosley was caught on video by the News of the World with five women in an underground “torture chamber” in Chelsea, where he spent several hours allegedly indulging in sado-masochistic sex."

(from http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article3649197.ece )

Obviously other places where you could put alleged or allegedly are

"Mr Mosley was allegedly caught on video by the News of the World with five alleged women in an alleged underground “torture chamber” allegedly in Chelsea, where he allegedly spent several hours allegedly indulging in sado-masochistic sex."

So why the one they put in, I wonder? t__m__i suggests that the reason is on the lines of 'maybe it was performance art'.
