The necrotic tendrils of fungal decay

Went to Bath to see zee_kat(WIOLJBDNP) take part in the Bath half-marathon. Got to the finish line just in time, with a bit of running which cause the front of my car radio to bounce out of my pocket and a couple of bits to fly out (all back together now) only to find the start had been put back an hour due to transport problems.
Anyway, my there are lots of empty shops in Bath. You may recall that a while ago I asked for antonyms for 'green shoots of recovery', and mr_snips suggested 'the necrotic tendrils of fungal decay'. Well, I think they can be seen in Bath. Bath is always one of those places that looks a bit shabby, like the town I grew up in, since I think a lot of the houses are owned by old people who own expensive houses but don't have any money to maintain them, but beyond that I think the number of empty shops is higher than the last couple of times I have been there.
