Historical re-enactment

Yesterday I performed what seemed to me to be a re-enactment of an ancient ritual - writing a cheque, writing a note with an order, addressing an envelope, putting the things in the envelope, putting a stamp on the envelope and posting it all. It seems a veeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrry long time since I last did this rather than ordering something over the web! The article in question was a CD by an (apparently) obscure band. I could have actually got it from Amazon but they said it would be at least 7 days, so I thought I would order it directly so the band got some more money. It would possibly have been faster too had I not taken over a week to get round to ordering it in p-space.
On looking for said CD in HMV and Virgin, I must say that I was slightly narked to have to look in the Rock & Pop section and the Dance section - seems a pretty bizarre and arbitrary distinction to me, and as it could easily have been either doubled the places in which I had to look. Sigh. As well as the practical annoyance of having to look in both, I think that conceptually this fractionating into smaller and smaller selections of things in narrower and narrower genres is a thoroughly bad thing, as it reduces the chances of serendipitously finding something new and exciting.
