Plot cliché 94

No doubt my Google-fu is weak, but a common plot cliché, as used tonight on Rebus on the TV ('in the kingdom of the blind the one eyed man is king, in the kingdom of the bland it's 9 on ITV' (*)) is 'you'll lose your pension'. The same was actually mentioned in connection with David Kelly's suicide.
So the question is... I have never had a pension where you can have it taken away for misconduct, gross or otherwise. If asked to guess, I would say that this was possibly true in the past, but is it at all conceivable that anyone now working, or even anyone who would have been working within my lifetime would have a pension that the employer could essentially take away for misconduct or whatever?

(*) yes, I know I always say this in connection with ITV drama, it, unlike the drama, merits repeating
