Bad week for bunnies

I ran over a bunny on the way home from work. There is always the nagging doubt that one misjudged the swerve and might have missed it, but I saw it late and didn't really swerve much. I wonder what it was doing on a main road during the rush hour. I wonder if there is something about, there was a very dead bunny in the park yesterday morning and we saw another one very much on its last legs - Dash wanted to pick it up and play with it, but I didn't let him. I doubt he would have dispatched it effectively, and he would have probably got fleas and so forth, and due to his larynx condition having him throw up is something to be avoided if at all possible. Certainly I get the impression rabbits are more numerous than they have been for a few years.

There has, in general, been a lot of road-kill around this last few days, particularly on the A415 and A4074, of a variety of shape and sizes - including a badger yesterday though mostly very flat small furry things. This is where the 'how to identify flattened animals from the shapes you see on the road as you drive past' book would be handy.

Talking of bunnies, it always seems slightly weird to me the way the vet sells both bunny food and cat food made of bunnies. I suppose in this country the rabbit is the main example of the 'pet or pot' duality.

In other news, Nellie is not a happy hound, she has had a lump removed from her tail, and is sitting on the sofa panting with her stomach rumbling. The lump is going to be sent off for histology and if it is something nasty then she will have to have the tail off, meaning our greyhounds will have 1/2 a tail between them.
