The top link on Google is this http://www.ruthpadel.com/pages/imigery.htm which claims to solve the mystery of 'in images of elsewhere' and suggest that it was painted by an Oxford graduate called Dave and his brother Geoff whose educational experience we are not told about.
I feel somehow let down, primarily because the line is said to come from a title of a paper by Ruth Padel who I know nothing about, but her website has a rather irksomely bigged up bio http://www.ruthpadel.com/pages/biography.htm (scroll down to 'Shortish'). Where she says "She has taught Greek at Oxford, opera in the Modern Greek Department at Princeton, myth in Buenos Aires University Psychology Department, horse-riding in Berlin. She has excavated Minoan tombs on Crete, presented a Radio 4 series on Hans Andersen, sung in an Istanbul nightclub and the choir of St Eustache, Paris." I am reminded somewhat of the famous spoof college application http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blbyol3.htm "I am the subject of numerous documentaries. When I'm bored, I build large suspension bridges in my yard. I enjoy urban hang gliding. On Wednesdays, after school, I repair electrical appliances free of charge."
To me, it will always have been written by the mysterious Master of Paddington, the only person to win the Greenwich Foot Tunnel Unicycle Race three years running.
