We have a word for such people

The reason I gave the vortext a churn was that I was looking for the 3rd Fritz Leiber collection of general short stories I have.

There is a story I am looking for, I think by Leiber, where an alien has crash-landed on Earth and to raise money for research needed to get him to the point where he can repair his ship, he sells his holiday videos for a comedy SF series where they are given an amusing sound-track. The first person narrator, who I think is a film industry person tries to explain to the alien what an SF writer is. 'Someone who tells stories in terms of science', he says. The alien thinks about this and says gravely, 'Ah yes, we have a word for such people. We keep them in special places. Away from the young'.

Leiber? Someone else? Any ideas?
