A work that sadly appears not to exist

... is 'Friday - The Opera'. I would pay good money to hear an operatic soprano singing 'Our teeth grated and my nipples went spung' (the train of thought was started by sparkymark mentioning the word 'spung'.
A search on Google did reveal the existence of a book (or possibly academic paper) entitled 'A guide to science fiction opera'. It is not clear whether it was published or not. I have emailed the author and will report back if I get an interesting reponse. I doubt he would approve of my motives, however.

Presumably he will mention Philip Glass's 1992 opera 'The Voyage' , which this author appears not to like. Sadly you have to pay for the whole article, but the free bit gives the gist, I suspect.
