The foxes that look and behave like dogs

Consider the foxes that look and behave like dogs because of selection for looking and behaving like dogs docility.
You know the ones... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domesticated_Silver_Fox

Have any of you seen any convincing evidence (e.g. detailed description of the 'which of you I am going to breed from rather than skin' protocol) that the reason they look and behave like dogs isn't because of some sort of subconscious / conscious bias towards foxes that look and behave like dogs?

Extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof and surely this must be the null hypothesis?

But, on the other hand, surely this would have been considered and corrected for?

Detailed papers seem to be behind a pay wall and other press coverage is somewhat hopeless.
